This print honors the history of one of the most famous of all Army divisions of all the, the First Calvary Division. The First Calvary was formed in 1921 and traced their roots back to the 7th Calvary regiment of 1866. The First Calvary have served with distinction in every major armed conflict since.
In 1965 the first major battle of the Vietnam War happened in a place called the Ia Drang Valley. The First Cavalry Airmobile, numbering only a few hundred men, engaged thousands of soldiers of an entire North Vietnamese Army Division. The men, battle and their commander Lt. Col Hal Moore were made famous in the movie, We Were Soldiers.” In more recent history soldiers of the First Calvary Division have served heroically in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This print, “First Team” honors the early history of the 7th Calvary combined with the more modern equipment of the 1st Calvary Division.
