Two A-10C “Warthogs” from the 104th Fighter Squadron of the Maryland Air National Guard, execute an attack against Taliban Insurgents in the city of Sangin, Afghanistan. The pilots are attacking their targets with precision by using AGR-20 Laser Guided Rockets.
The men and women of the 104th Fighter Squadron, also know as the “Fightin’ O’s” are based at Warfield Air National Guard Base near Baltimore, MD. The “Fightin’ O’s” deployed to Afghanistan in January 2019 and served with distinction in support of Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL, returning home in April of 2019.
While deployed, the 104th took the fight to the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and ISIS terrorists in the region. The “Fightin’ O’s” executed over one thousand Air Tasking Order missions flying Close Air Support and Combat Search and Rescue missions. While in Combat the squadron employed over one hundred Laser Guided Rockets, 150 JDAM’s, and 15,000 rounds of 30mm.
The key component in the impressive combat performance was the dedication and challenging work of the Maintenance and Operations Support personnel. The team effort by the members of the “Fightin’ O’s” resulted in a 100% mission capable rate with zero combat sorties lost.
“Steel Rain over Sangin” is available as a signed, Limited Edition print on archival paper and a larger, signed Artist Masterwork on canvas.
